SCHEDULING
Each trout lily flower opens in early afternoon, follows the movement of the sun, then the flower closes at dusk. Therefore we only open the preserve for afternoon tours.
Each individual flower re-opens for several days, with overall numbers of flowers in bloom beginning gradually, increasing, peaking, then declining over the course of a few weeks. Depending on the winter weather the overall bloom may be anywhere from two to six weeks long. Therefore, as each year’s bloom timing is unpredictable and the daily weather uncertain,
we will adjust the schedule, canceling or adding dates as needed. For announcements of schedule changes, sign up for email alerts at bethgrant@bellsouth.net or follow this webpage regularly.
THE TROUT LILIES GROW ON A SLOPE
BE SURE TO WEAR SHOES OR BOOTS WITH TREADS
AND BRING A WALKING STICK IF NEEDED
NO DOGS PLEASE
NO BATHROOM FACILITIES
Unfortunately there is no access for people with significantly limited mobility who cannot complete a short walk on a gentle slope. If you have minor limitations, be sure to come on a day when the ground will be dry, come with an able-bodied companion and bring a walking stick or cane. We have had a very happy 90 year old visitor, but only you can decide what is best for you.
